Make the Ask
Third, and this one is key, you need to make the “ask.”
No matter how interesting your initial conversation
was, it will do you no good if you never see that
person again.
If you enjoyed talking to
someone you just met, then say so and ask
for their contact information. It can be as
simple as saying “I really enjoyed meeting
you – we should do lunch sometime,” and
handing them your card. They’ll almost
always give you a card in return. If cards
aren’t your thing, ask if you can exchange
cell phone numbers or friend them on
Facebook.

Finally, don’t be discouraged by false starts.
Not every conversation goes somewhere, and
not every stranger turns into a pre-friend. A

After a few tries, you’ll find that making new
friends is not all that hard. In fact, it often
opens you up not only to new people, but also to fun
and interesting experiences (hence why I keep doing
it). Just follow these tips and you’ll be amazed at the
results.
