“ When we are questioned, whether it is about works or in response to a complaint, for example, we can quickly find the information on screen.
The system enables us to visit the location from the desktop, right down to seeing an actual image of the road surface thanks to the amount of video we have in the system. This allows us to see immediately what needs doing. This also reduces our day-to-day operational costs as the information is available to us with a click of a button and without having to send staff to site”

Working with other systems
Iolo Jones says he would like to make more use of the system and is working towards gaining greater understanding of the Horizons analysis module. He also reports that work is underway to explore integration of Horizons with Anglesey’ s Mayrise Street Works management system, which is now included in the Yotta DCL solutions portfolio following acquisition.
“ Mayrise is our management system and our inspectors use PDAs for daily inspections. They take these out on site to collect and report their findings back to the central system in the office. We want to integrate Horizons with Mayrise so that information can be shared more easily and we can eliminate duplication. This will benefit our inspectors and it also means that Horizons will be updated too with data direct from site without rekeying it,” says Iolo Jones.
