10 VEGETARIAN FRIDGE AND PANTRY STAPLES

Joel shares with us his fridge and pantry staples so that you always have something on hand to make a delicious and healthy meal .
The ideal work-life balance often eludes many of us . So eating well can sometimes be difficult to achieve . However , keeping healthy staple foods in your fridge and pantry will make your already busy lives a little less stressful . Here are my top go-to ingredients that are always in my kitchen , that you might like to keep on hand too !
Blueberries
Whether fresh or frozen , blueberries are nutritional powerhouses . They are rich in antioxidants , low in sugar and contain a decent hit of fibre . There is also some evidence to show that including blueberries as part of a healthy diet can improve insulin sensitivity and reduce blood pressure . Include a handful on your cereal , yoghurt , custard , ice cream , or in a smoothie to get an easy nutrient boost .
Peanut butter
Peanut butter is a rich source of monounsaturated fats – the healthy ones that help to reduce cholesterol . It ’ s also a good source of fibre , folate , protein , vitamin E and potassium . Better yet , there is evidence to show that people who regularly eat nuts have a reduced incidence of developing type 2 diabetes compared with those who don ’ t .
Extra virgin olive oil
You ’ ll always find a bottle of Extra virgin olive oil ( EVOO ) in my cupboard . This golden oil is extremely versatile and can be used in a variety of different ways .
