DIET & WELLNESS My Cuppa Chai Dr. Arindham Chatterjee Butter tea is the first offering to a guest in Ladakhi household. Considered quite an offence if you can’t finish the contents of the cup! W inter reminds me of homemade ginger tea and tulsi tea as well. In India, we worship tulsi. The juice of the leaves of this very tulsi plant is one of the best home remedies for cough and cold. Tulsi tea and ginger tea are very simple preparations yet a great answer to cold. Just warm some tea leaves in water along with tulsi leaves and few cubes of ginger – that’s it. 5 to 6 cups a day are advised for ones suffering with cough and cold. Talking about Tea & Yoga, I have found green tea a very common preparation in Yoga studios. Green tea is very light and healthy. But I’d suggest one thing – the gap between a yoga session and any sort of consumption must be at least 1 hour. 76 www.yogicherald.com Jan./Feb. 2019
