Raw Vegan
PLANT-BASED MILKS
Growing up in Punjab - one of the highest milk
producing states of India - I enjoyed drinking one or
two glasses of milk every day, it was quite normal for
me. Other dairy products too were a part of my diet.
It was not until 2012, that I faced major
set back to my health. Having been
diagnosed with jaundice and taking
strong medications for a prolonged
period, I started experiencing severe
acidity and bloating. Due to extreme
weakness in my body I had to quit my
job. All the doctors I consulted were
unable to diagnose the issue correctly

hence it kept getting worse as the
Plant-based
months went by with chronic
Milks
headaches, insomnia and pain in the
soles of my feet. It was almost a year
later that I first came to know about the
raw vegan way of life, and realised that
dairy could be one of the causes of my
degrading health.
I trusted my instinct and ate only fruits
while not consuming dairy for a few
days, just to see if it helped. It was a life
altering decision. By going fully raw and
vegan, my chronic acidity vanished in
just a few days. Fresh plant-based food,
over time, also helped me get sound
sleep and strong immunity. I over-came
respiratory problems, rebuilt my
hormonal system and restored my inner
balance and harmony. Losing some
extra kilos was an added bonus. I felt so
empowered and in control of my health.
When I studied more in depth about a
natural plant based lifestyle, myths
associated with many food items were
revealed to me and one of them being

I came to know about
plant based milks a few years
after I started my raw food
journey. I started making
simple milks using nuts and
seeds for myself and my
family and soon started
teaching basic nut milks in my
beginner's raw food classes.
