This year was an extra special event as the council’s meeting on Wednesday 16th April, was not only an opportunity to report all that had happened during the last year, but also an opportunity to show the appreciation of the village for all the hard work, time and effort one man has made to improving the lives of local residents. After Effie Gale-Sides chairman of the Parish Council had delivered her report, there was an opportunity for local groups to also report on the past year of their organisations. The Hall was full with residents interested to hear what has been happening in Atworth during the previous 12 months. The Parish Plan was laid out at the back of the hall for all to view and many comments were added during the evening. Finally the moment arrived, and David Webb was asked to stand forward so Sir James could present him with the Honorary Freedom of the Parish of Atworth, A speech was made explaining the many things and many years David has devoted to village life, and David made a speech of thanks in return in which he named his wife as his stalwart over so many years. The evening finished with refreshments, wine and cakes provided by our own W.I. Yer Tiz Atworth Village Magazine—May2014 Page 17
