Send your news, articles and notices to [email protected] April’s group meeting was very busy. Andy Hunter from Blythswood Care showed a short film of last year’s “shoe-boxes” being distributed in Eastern Europe and stressed the importance of the hats, gloves, scarves and puppets that we produce to put into the boxes. We also had a visit from Diana Malling of Sainsburys. The store’s adopted charity is the West Wiltshire Special Needs Activity Scheme and Diana had asked us to knit chicks for them. The chicks will contain a crème egg, provided by Sainsburys, and be sold at their Melksham branch. We managed to produce 210 chicks for Diana. Emma Leith also dropped in to collect the roses that we had crocheted for her. Emma will be using the roses to yarn-bomb Bath during Bath Fashion Week and each rose will raise 10p for the charity Kids’ Company. We managed to produce 409 roses in a month. The chicks and roses were in addition to our usual items; jumpers, hats and blankets for Operation Orphan, hats and teddies for Facing Africa, and bedcapes, bedsocks and knee blankets for the RUH. The group meets on the first Thursday of the month and our sister group, Knit & Natter, meets on the third Thursday of the month; both meetings are held at the Corsham Community Centre, starting at 10:00 and all are welcome. If you would like to know more about the group or our projects please contact our chairman Meg Waugh (01225852387) or follow us on our Facebook page - Corsham Knitting & Crochet Group – which has photographs of our work.
