Of the first 6 matches, only 1 has been played due to rain or waterlogged fields. In that match, GFCC were soundly beaten by Christian Malford. The Fleece fielded an inexperienced team with 7 players coming from the Return to Cricket programme. However, they enjoyed the whole experience immensely and the future prospects for the club are good. Asda Family Day This year, the club has created a link with Asda and there will be a family day on the field on Saturday July 19th (Sat 26th if the weather is bad). During the day, a 30 over cricket match will take place between Asda and the club but there will also be stalls, a bouncy castle, BBQ and a bar, (courtesy of the golf club). Any proceeds raised by Asda will go to their Tickled Pink Charity whilst the Fleece will also have a fundraising event, in memory of Nick Sparrow, to raise funds for Dorothy House. Please look out for details regarding times for the event. Everyone is invited to come along and join in the fun. Please put the date in your diary. On behalf of his daughter, Susan MacLeod, I have compiled the attached obituary which we would be grateful if you can publish in the village magazine. Over more than a decade and up to his death I was in constant contact with Norman. He had an extrodinary memory and I was able to include many of his recollections in so much of the history of the village and its people. Many people whose family history I compiled were most grateful for his contribution about their ancestors. Norman's parents, brothers and sister-in-laws are all buried in the Chapel graveyard and were well-known to Rodney and Christine. He also has relatives still living in the area. Joan Cocozza.
