May’s group meeting was the last to be held in the
old Corsham Community Centre so we marked
the occasion with a group photograph. We also
congratulated Lil South for completing more than
2,000 knitted clown glove puppets. We greeted
two guests; Sandy Bagnall asked us to make
knitted premature baby dolls and “boobs” for the
charity BirthLink. Sandy’s daughter works at Queen Charlotte’s Hospital, specialising
in the care of premature babies and through the BirthLink charity she teaches mothers
in Rwanda, Armenia, Mongolia and Burma how to care for their premature babies. The
dolls and boobs will assist in this. Our other guest was Yasmin Williams who is
studying Graphic Communications at Bath Spa University and was keen to interview
members for a publication she is producing. Yasmin has “friended” our Facebook
page and is welcome to use any of our photographs from the page in her publication.
Members were urged to visit Bath during Fashion Week to see the crochet roses; the
group produced over 400 roses for this event.
The group meets on the first Thursday of the month and our sister group, Knit &
Natter, meets on the third Thursday of the month; there will be NO JUNE group
meeting as we have no venue but we hope to be together again in July.
If you would like to know more about the group or our projects please contact our
chairman Meg Waugh (01225852387) or follow us on our Facebook page - Corsham
Knitting & Crochet Group.
