We call on every member to make their wishes regarding Organ Donation known, and to encourage their families and friends and members of their communities to do likewise." This is the Resolution which will go forward to the Annual Meeting in Leeds, which was backed by nearly 30,000 members. Our members discussed ways of signing up for Organ Donation, including carrying a Donor Card and filling in a form on a driving licence application. Most members were in favour of this, though some had reservations about trying to persuade other people. One member told us of her husband's donation which had been made according to his wishes. An extra summer outing has been proposed to Sweet Briar Cottage in Chippenham Lesley Adam then told us of her collecting for Operation Christmas Child, and proposed that members should bring various items to meetings. This was agreed, and hygiene items should be brought to the next meeting. A Sales Table was then held and proved extremely popular. The July meeting is on Monday 21s at 7.30 p.m. for business, followed at 8.00 p.m. by Keith Hickett describing "A Policeman's Lot." Guests welcome as usual at £3 each. JEAN KAIN Over 55’ Afternoon Tea We were delighted to be given an assortment of delicious cakes baked by Stonar students for our June Tea. They were very much enjoyed and appreciated by everyone. It was very thoughtful to establish links with us in such a practical and positive way. We had a lovely, relaxing afternoon with friends old and new. Thank you to everyone who helped and to everyone who came along. Also our thanks go to Ann Lightfoot as our main driver and to Sarah Leate who has kindly agreed to give lifts in her absence. The Over 55s Afternoon Tea is an occasion for all 55s and over to meet together for an enjoyable afternoon of tea, coffee and cake. It is a lively and happy event. The next one will be held on Wednesday 9th July 3.00pm - 4.30 pm at the Atworth Institute/Village Hall. If you haven’t been before, please come along. You will be made most welcome. If you are unable to come this time, there is a break for August so the following Afternoon Tea will be on Wednesday 10th September at the same time and venue. Just call in. If you need transport that’s no problem as a lift can easily be arranged by phoning 01225 702228. Kind regards Effie Yer Tiz Atworth Village Magazine—July 2014 Page 7
