Send your news, articles and notices to [email protected] Neighbourhood Watch Hi everyone, The following message came in from the Wiltshire police recently:There have been several reports of properties being broken into in Lydiard Millicent and Purton/Cricklade areas. It is thought that the offender(s) may be the same for all reports as the method of entry is the same. The offender is forcing entry via rear doors/windows and does not seem concerned whether the glass breaks! Untidy searches have been made and high value items (Jewellery) mainly cash are being taken. There is a possibility that the offender may be coming to the properties during the day and knocking on the door and if there is a reply giving some lame excuse about quoting for some work that may or may not require doing. There is every likelihood that there may be more than 1 offender with a vehicle being used to which there are no details known as yet. It is thought that the thefts are being committed during the early evening up to 9pm while it is still light with the offender pulling curtains while they search. Please can everyone remain vigilant at this time and make sure that your property is secure and well protected. Use light timer where possible, if going away please let your neighbours and trusted family know. If possible leave a spare secured car on your drive and arrange for someone to check on your property regularly and even cut the grass if away for some time. Please note any suspicious persons and vehicles in your street and activity you will be the best judge if these persons should be in your street and call the police if you believe there is a more sinister purpose for their visit. Please use 101 no. On another note:It’s a save the day reminder for the Dorothy House Marquee week from July 12th – 20th 2014.
