My old friend and I had a good day as we walked the fields where we used to help
Jack Smith with the haymaking. Not much silage done in those days and the hay
bales were hand manageable. After a visit to the “tips” we landed up in Neston Lane.
We remembered those times when during a day several of the Bath buses used to go
up Neston Lane and on via Corsham to Bath. These were proper double-decker
buses and at sometime during the year there was a bus with the top sawn off that was
used for workmen on the top deck to cut off overhanging tree branches.
The double decker buses reminded of travelling to Bath with my mother and noticing
the adverts pasted in front of the luggage space. One such notice was a scripture text
that I’ve never forgotten, in those days it was the Authorized Version – “for what shall
it profit a man if he gains the whole world yet loses his own soul”. Although those
words were written over nineteen hundred years ago they are still relevant for us
today. We can be so involved in making it good in this life but forget within there is a
soul which will never die. Through His death on the cross and resurrection the Lord
Jesus Christ has given those who trust and believe in Him Eternal Life. The Bible tells
us our souls will never die and one day will be reunited with new bodies. Don’t neglect
the warnings and miss out on eternity with Christ.

Botanic Nurseries Atworth
Congratulations are in order as Terry and Mary Baker of the Botanic Nursery by
Stonar have presented at the Internationally famous Chelsea Flower Show and not
only did they win an award they won GOLD!
How wonderful that a nursery in our village should be given such an accolade by the
professionals knowing how everything has to be so very perfect on that one judging
day. All that planning for many months in advance and total concentration on the
plants is an amazing effort.
Well Done!
