YEO Bios Brandon Whipple State Representative Wichita, Kansas Brandon Whipple was elected to the Kansas House of Representatives in 2012 and represents the 96th district, which is mainly the south side of Wichita. He serves on the House committees for Taxation, Telecommunications, and Commerce, Labor, and Economic Development. He also serves on his party’s House leadership team as the agenda chair. Whipple is a graduate of Wichita State University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in sociology as well as a Masters of Arts in liberal studies, which focused on cross-cultural studies and public administration. He also earned a Doctorate of Arts in leadership studies with a concentration in policy and law from Franklin Pierce University. When the Kansas House is not in session, Representative Whipple teaches at Southwestern College. He is married to Chelsea Whipple and has a two-year-old named Adrian and a nine-month-old named Tristan. @bwhippleks Alan Williams State Representative Tallahassee, Florida Shari Williams Registrar of Voters Hartford, Connecticut Shari M. Williams is the registrar of voters in the city of Hartford. Her passion in life is to bring awareness to people on important issues such as voter’s rights, racial injustice, global warming, and tuition cost. Williams has worked in the education and human services field for 10 years. She enjoys writing music, painting, and dancing. Clean Energy & Environmental Justice Policy Academy | 2016 Alan Williams was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2008. In 2013, President Obama invited Williams to meet with him and others to discuss the reauthorization of the Voting Rights Act. He has served on statewide and national policy panel sessions on education, voting rights, stand your ground laws, and affordable healthcare. While in college at Florida A&M, Williams served as a student senator, helping re-establish FAMU’s College of Law and establish the university’s first intercampus transportation system. In 2006, he founded MW Land & Investments, a property management and business development firm that promotes business ownership and drives business back into the local community. MW Land & Investments actively recruits local youth and young professionals to provide them with hands-on experience and teach them the importance of business, property, and stock ownership, helping them to gain financial independence and create generational wealth. 51
