YEO Bios Craig Rice County Councilman Germantown, Maryland Craig Rice was first elected to the Montgomery County Council in November 2010, becoming the youngest African American to ever serve on the nine-member council and only the second African American man to serve in that role. In December 2013, his colleagues elected him to a one-year term as president of the council. Rice chairs the council’s Education Committee and serves on its Health and Human Services Committee. In addition, he serves as the council’s representative to the Maryland Association of Counties (MACo) in Annapolis and chairs MACo’s Education Subcommittee. He is also chairman of the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments’ (COG) Chesapeake Bay and Water Resources Policy Committee. Melissa Robinson School Board Member Kansas City, Missouri Brian Rowland City Councilman Prairie View, Texas Brian Rowland is in his second term as a city councilman in Prairie View, Texas. On the council, Rowland has focused on protecting local college students’ right to vote. He has received the young champions of justice award from the Lawyers Committee on Civil Rights and has been actively involved in the NAACP as the assistant treasurer for the Texas state conference branches. He holds a B.S. in business administration from Tarleton State University, and a master of community development and business administration from Prairie View A&M University. He is currently enrolled as an educational leadership Ph.D. student. @Browlandspeaks Clean Energy & Environmental Justice Policy Academy | 2016 Melissa Robinson is a member of the board of directors of the Kansas City Public Schools. Robinson has been instrumental in increasing teacher accountability, promoting transparent government, championing effective use of Title I funding and raising awareness of environmental and health issues impacting educators, students and families. Robinson is a Robert Wood Johnson Fellow, and is currently employed with the Black Health Care Coalition. Robinson is leading efforts to address the social determinates of health and ensuring that the organization is making a significant impact on reducing health disparities in the areas of hypertension, infant mortality, diabetes, breast and prostate cancer, and childhood asthma. Robinson obtained a B.S. from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and an M.B.A. from Webster University.  47
