This opening session will look at the opportunities we create when we transition
to clean energy, not just for widespread economic growth and security, but also
for ensuring shared prosperity and spurring socially-responsible and communityminded development.

NextGen Climate
Garrett Arwa is the director of engagement for NextGen Climate where
he is working on strategies to engage a broad coalition on the need for a
clean energy economy, including communities of color and young voters.
He previously served as the executive director of his state party, and as
the constituency director for President Obama’s re-election campaign
in 2012. He also ran the Michigan Coordinated Campaign in 2010 and
2012, and was the state director for Organizing for America, where he
organized around health insurance reform and Wall Street reform in
2009 and 2010. Prior to his work with the DNC, Arwa worked in 2007 and
2008 on the Obama campaign, including primary campaigns in NH, GA, and TX, as well as working
in Florida for the general election. Arwa is a proud Syracuse Orangemen with a master’s degree in
international relations from the University of New Hampshire.
