Trainers Dave Hamilton Sierra Club Dave Hamilton is the director for clean energy of the Sierra Club’s Beyond Coal Campaign. Hamilton has been an analyst and advocate on energy and environmental issues for the past 25 years. Hamilton previously led the Sierra Club’s federal efforts on global warming and energy, including work on the energy bills of 2005 and 2007, as well as the drive for legislation on global warming in 2009 and 2010. Prior to joining the Sierra Club in 2004, he was with the consulting firm of Bob Lawrence and Associates. He has also served as policy director for the non-profit Alliance to Save Energy which focuses on energy efficiency policy at the state and federal levels. Hamilton began his tenure in Washington, DC in 1987, joining the U.S. Public Interest Research Group as their first national field director on the Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990. He then shifted over to lobbying work on energy efficiency and renewable energy during the push to create the Production Tax Credit for wind energy in the Energy Policy Act of 1992. As a consultant, he has worked with clients such as Booz-Allen-Hamilton, the National Religious Partnership for the Environment, and the Department of Energy.
