Policy Link: Affordable Housing YEOs in Action: San Francisco Supervisor Jane Kim & Affordable Housing Policy With a progressive agenda taking root in cities and states across the country, YEOs and other progressive electeds are pushing a working families’ agenda in which affordable housing is a central point. This ordinance-turned-ballot initiative from YEO San Francisco Supervisor Jane Kim amends the city planning code to establish a 70/30 balance between market-rate housing and affordable housing in new housing construction. Additionally, this measure requires a conditional use permit for new market-rate housing if the balance of affordable housing is not maintained. Fair Elections Network – “Local Initiatives Designed to Improve the Voting Experience: Concepts for Local Elected Officials and Election Officials” Last month, our partners at the Fair Elections Network released this toolkit compiling innovative local initiatives implemented by local elections officials and elected officials that solve some of the biggest problems in election administration and promote more voter friendly environments. National Women’s Law Center – “Moving Women & Families Forward: A State Roadmap to Economic Justice” Our partners at the National Women’s Law Center recently released this roadmap to help state advocates and policymakers create a more just society for women and families. The roadmap includes an agenda of key policies including health and reproductive rights, equal pay, support for workers with family responsibilities, and the elimination of workplace discrimination, among others.
