2012
Since 1965, the Charles River has
welcomed a breadth of athletes from
near and far to participate in the
world’s largest two-day regatta. During
the 48th annual Head of the Charles
Regatta, the city of Cambridge was
overrun with a whole host of teams,
eager tourists, and regatta attendees.
Defending Boston Globe Trophy champions the Crimson nearly thought they
that they would become the first US
college crew to retain the honor since the Navy in 1983.
Unfortunately, due to a mis-called
course penalty, the Crimson had to
bow to the Huskies. However, the
Crimson was not without success;
the women’s Varsity Lightweight 8
won a title for the first time in 2012.
