“
Welcome to your yearbook! I want to start by saying a huge thank you to all of you for all you have contributed to our school this year. I
am incredibly proud to be your Head Teacher and to represent our school, its amazing students and staff. Thank you for your politeness, the respect
you show to each other and your teachers and for making this school feel so special each and every day. The amazing family that is EF Academy
Torbay is thanks to you and I hope you are as proud as I am of the wonderful atmosphere we create, share and enjoy. As we reach the end of the
academic year and as you look through this yearbook Rob, Debbie, Louise and I hope you are able to reflect with pride on all you have achieved
this year. Whether that is improving your English, making fantastic academic progress, receiving offers from amazing universities, becoming an EF
Eagle, participating in DofE, starring in the talent show or any of the other house events, being one of our amazing student leaders (this list could
go on and on) we hope you have achieved all you wanted to this year.
All the staff here hope that the memories you have made will be of happy and positive experiences, of shared good times with friends, teachers
and school support staff and of the successes you have achieved along the way. We also hope that there will be points at which you stop and think
about the importance of the past year and the impact it has and will have on the rest of your life. If you are graduating this year and moving on to
amazing universities, we hope you will stay in touch with the friends you have made from all over the world and of course that you will pop back
and visit us if you are ever back in the UK.
It is often said that your school days are the most important and influential time of your life. The period you spend in school helps shape your values
and attitudes to life, your character and how you treat and respect others and guides you along the path that will determine your contribution
to society and the wider world. We know that we have made a significant contribution to this period in your lives and we are grateful for the
opportunity. It is with great pride and satisfaction that we say a fond farewell to those students graduating this year as we know that, as you take
your next steps, you will continue to grow and flourish to become valued members of your communities and the wider society.
I know that for all of us, this academic year has not ended in a way which we would have chosen and this is especially true of those who were about
to begin their final term here in Torbay. However, this does not change the impact you have made on our lives and, more importantly, the significant
changes you have experienced to give yourself an exciting future, full of adventures and opportunities. So when in years to come you find this
yearbook on your shelf, look through it and look back on the happy times and the friendships. Remember, you have studied in a castle, swum in the
sea and taken part in service within the local community and you have acquired skills and experiences that will enable you to make a difference. But
also remember the hard work, the determination and the success you experienced and how all of this has made you the person you have become.
Know that you are a better person for the days you spent at EF Academy Torbay and take every opportunity offered and live your life to the full.
Then you will have made the most of your time spent at our school.
