IBAC UPDATE
Keeping Business Flying Around the World
Going forward, AsBAA will share content from IBAC that is
relevant to our members operating in Asia.
IBAC – the International Business Aviation Council will be
focussing on the following key areas in 2018: developments
at the International Civil Aviation Organisation, IS-BAH and
IS-BAO programmatic improvements, and information
to operators in meeting potential requirements of the
Register
ICAO Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for
for the
International Aviation (CORSIA).

CORSIA UPDATE
CORSIA
workshops
8-9 February
in Singapore!
Even though the CORSIA aims to cap international aviation
emissions from 2020 through a global, simple carbon-offsetting
system, there are some steps that potentially covered operators
should begin taking in 2018. IBAC is working with the
International Air Transport Association (IATA) through the Air
Transport Action Group (ATAG) to undertake a number of initial
workshops around the world to raise operators’ awareness of
the coming requirements and the steps that operators should
be taking in advance. IATA will hold several workshops around
the world in January and February (CORSIA WORKSHOPS), to
which all operators are invited. IBAC encourages you to refer to
the Countdown to CORSIA page on IBAC’ s website for further
information. Should you have any questions or suggestions
about IBAC initiatives, trainings or activities, please contact
them directly at [email protected].
The IATA one-day CORSIA workshops are open to all
operators, including business aviation operators, at no charge,
but there are limited places for each session so pre-registration
is encouraged and can be done by emailing [email protected].

It is important that international business aviation
operators understand this new global carbon
offsetting scheme and those that are not covered by
exclusions need to take steps in 2018 to begin
gathering data to fuel burn from international flights.”
Edwards added, “CORSIA was developed by ICAO
with significant aviation industry input, and we
welcome this measure as part of a larger suite of
measures, including air traffic management
modernization, new technologies, and sustainable
alternative fuels, to reduce emissions. We appreciate
working with IATA to participate in several of their
workshops and look forward to presenting details on
CORSIA at several business aviation events this year.
