NQ Dry Tropics is a not-for-profit public company , limited by guarantee . Established in 2002 , it is registered under the Corporations Act 2001 and the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission .
It is governed by a skills-based Board of Directors , which has overall responsibility for setting strategic direction , and ensuring financial viability . Annual mandatory external financial audits are overseen by the board ’ s Finance and Risk Committee .
Directors met eight times during 2023-24 , with notable achievements including overseeing the development and launch of the Corporate Strategic Plan 2023-26 , and the Reconciliation Action Plan 2023-25 ( RAP ).
Director Julia Broad stepped down from the board this year following a decade of service . During her tenure Julia advocated passionately for the grazing community of which she is a member , especially for access to knowledge and best management practices to improve resilience .
Julia was generous with her time , often putting her hand up to participate in committees and working groups , where she made valuable contributions . She represented the board on the advisory panel guiding the development of the Burdekin Dry Tropics Region NRM Plan , and sat on the NQ Dry Tropics Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group .
