Reconciliation Action Plan launched
At a breakfast held on Wulgurukaba Country in Townsville , the NQ Dry Tropics Board launched the organisation ’ s Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan 2023-25 ( RAP ).
The board was joined by members of the RAP Working Group , TOMG members and NQ Dry Tropics staff to celebrate and commit to the RAP vision of Caring for Country ... together .
The plan outlines actions to strengthen relationships with the region ’ s Traditional Owners and the broader Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community . This will be achieved through building respect and connections , sharing knowledge , improving cultural awareness and competency , and supporting employment and economic opportunities in the region .

Traditional Owners brush up on monitoring skills
NQ Dry Tropics facilitated monitoring training for Traditional Owners and Indigenous Ranger groups from the Burdekin region , hosted by graziers Jamie Gordon and Garlone Moulin at Mt Pleasant Station , near Bowen .
Fifteen participants from five different Indigenous Ranger and Traditional Owner groups participated in the two-day course , which included theoretical and practical components of the widely-used Queensland Vegetation Condition Assessment Tool , and photo point monitoring .
