Drought Hub supports landholders to improve climate resilience
NQ Dry Tropics is a partner in the Tropical North Queensland ( TNQ ) Drought Hub . Funded by the Australian Government ' s Future Drought Fund under the Drought Resilience Research and Adoption Program , the TNQ Hub is one of eight Drought Resilience Adoption and Innovation Hubs across Australia established to support land managers and communities to prepare for drought .
This year the Hub continued supporting research , development , extension , adoption and commercialisation activities .
These activities will help land managers and Tropical North Queensland communities become more prepared for , and resilient to , future droughts .
Wide-ranging partnerships support drought resilience efforts
NQ Dry Tropics ’ Drought Resilience Coordinator Marc McConnell ( pictured ) works with a range of local and national partner organisations to help primary industries become more drought resilient . This work includes linking landholders with funding to undertake planning or practice change , using local expertise to support implementation of AgTech on rangeland properties , and partnering with climate scientists to provide landholders with localised longterm forecasts to assist with farm management .
