Cane innovations event highlights untapped potential of GPS
A field day at grower Aaron Linton ’ s Home Hill farm featured a host of innovative technologies designed to help the cane industry improve efficiency , profitability and sustainability .
One of the highlighted projects , Making GPS Work For You , helped growers unlock the full potential of their GPS systems .
The project enabled growers to start their precision farming journey , by automating tasks such as record keeping , using data to better inform on-farm decisions , and more precisely apply inputs .
Burdekin-based precision farming company Aglantis delivered the project , and gave an informative presentation at the event about harnessing the potential of existing devices simply by ensuring each GPS was properly calibrated and set up for the farm on which they were used .
The field day was supported by the Precision Agriculture Project , the Lower Burdekin Water Quality Program and the Lower Burdekin Smart Irrigation Project .
