It has been a pleasure chairing the NQ Dry Tropics Board this year . I have welcomed the introduction of new Directors whose passion and ideas have added a fresh dimension to the group . We have an excellent mix of knowledge and expertise to help ensure the organisation ’ s strategic direction is sound , and we can make the best decisions to help ensure growth and future success .
I am proud to represent an organisation committed to improving our region ’ s landscapes , livelihoods and communities . There is much to be done as we navigate changing political and economic times , however , as this Year In Review demonstrates , we are on the right track . I particularly want to congratulate CEO Scott Crawford and his staff for their dedication , which resulted in another year of success .

As another year rolls by , I am proud of the way in which we continued delivering outstanding on-ground results while strengthening partnerships , and increasing knowledge and capacity of staff and stakeholders .
Our Reconciliation Action Plan launches later this year , reinforcing our longstanding commitment to improving outcomes and participation in NRM for First Nations people . My sincere thanks to everyone involved with its development , in particular the NQ Dry Tropics Traditional Owner Management Group .
We are working to better position NQ Dry Tropics and our region to take advantage of the future funding potential of environmental markets . One area of focus is natural capital accounting ; a system for better valuing and tracking changes to our region ' s natural capital .
I look forward to launching our 2023-2026 Corporate Strategic Plan in the coming months . It identifies where we will continue directing our efforts , both regionally and statewide , as part of the Natural Resource Management Regions Queensland ( NRMRQ ) network .
