PROTECTING COASTAL ECOSYSTEMS AND THREATENED ECOLOGICAL COMMUNITIES

This year NQ Dry Tropics continued repairing and rehabilitating critical landscapes , habitats and species , including wetlands , beach scrub and creekbanks . These activities , including weed and feral animal control , constructing fishways to aid fish migration , revegetation and removing rubbish from sensitive areas , were delivered through the following projects :
• Restoration of the Ramsar Wetlands of Bowling Green Bay funded by the Australian Government ’ s Environment Restoration Fund .
• Linking Burdekin Landholders to Their Frontage Country for Vegetation , Soil and Water Quality Gains funded through the Queensland Government ’ s Natural Resources Investment Program .
• Queensland Feral Pig Syndicates jointly funded through the Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements — Environmental Recovery Package — and Weeds and Pest Management Program .
• From the Land to the Sea : Improving the Health of Coastal Ecosystems funded by the Australian Government ’ s Reef Trust .
• Conserving Brigalow Corridors funded by the Australian Government .
• Healing Country funded through the Queensland Government ’ s Reef Assist Program .
• Cultural Fire Management for Grazing Landscapes funded by WWF-Australia .
• Protecting Beach Scrub Communities funded by the Australian Government .
