Board welcomes new members

The NQ Dry Tropics Board has been strengthened by the appointment of two new directors .
Ayr grower Frank Mugica took on the role of Director — Cane . He has a longstanding interest in sustainable agriculture and brings with him considerable experience and knowledge of the sugar cane industry .
He said he was keen to see other growers implement practices that enhanced their economic viability while benefiting the environment .
“ We are custodians of the land and want to pass it onto the next generation in better condition ,” Frank said .

“ I think Burdekin cane farmers have come a long way in terms of practice improvement , and I look forward to helping continue this work through stronger partnerships between NQ Dry Tropics and other industry stakeholders .” Adam Parsons joined the Board as Director — Finance and Audits .
Adam initially qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst & Young in Sydney . He worked in the United Kingdom before returning to Australia to complete an MBA program .
For the past five years Adam has been General Manager and more recently , a director , of Campbell Scientific Australia and Oceania , a leading environmental data acquisition company . He said he was very pleased to be appointed to the NQ Dry Tropics Board .

“ Given the finance focus of this Board role , I aim to continue to enable and support the significant and important natural resource-based programs the NQ Dry Tropics staff and management have delivered in North Queensland for some 20 years ,” Adam said .
