MESSAGE FROM THE OUTGOING PRESIDENT
Dear colleagues,
2014 was an eventful year of change and transition for ParlAmericas.
We embraced new and dynamic methodologies for facilitating multinational dialogue, and we have received some very positive feedback on these new approaches. To continue on this positive note, engagement in our activities has grown steadily. Over the past year we have strengthened our partnerships with civil society organizations, technical experts, and other international bodies and forums. Our membership has represented ParlAmericas at a variety of parliamentary meetings and reported back on the conclusions reached.
I am also pleased to introduce our new Director General, Alisha Todd. Her first day on the job was at our board meeting in the Dominican Republic, and we have been impressed by her energy in this role, to which she brings extensive programming experience. Under Ms. Todd’s guidance, ParlAmericas is well positioned to build on its solid institutional foundation.
I am honoured to have served as ParlAmericas’ President for the past three years and I know that great achievements will be reached with its new leadership. Senator Guerra, our President as of September, brings strong commitment and vast inter-parliamentary experience to the position. I look forward to working with her and my other colleagues on the board to take ParlAmericas to the next level.
