The 11th Plenary Assembly, hosted by Chile’s Chamber of Deputies, convened delegates, experts, and civil society observers under the theme of Mainstreaming Sustainability. The agenda of the plenary was structured around two working groups – "Open Parliament" and "Post-2015 Development Agenda: Legislative Perspectives" – in addition to a Meeting of the Group of Women Parliamentarians on Women’s Healthcare. Official proceedings, such as the passing of resolutions and elections for the Board of Directors, took place during the opening and closing sessions.

In working groups, delegates heard from expert presenters who provided context for the debates and participated in question and answer periods. They then moved to roundtable groups to discuss the strategic actions and political commitments necessary to implement the Agreements reached at the 1st Inter-American Meeting of Speakers of Parliaments on open parliament and sustainable development. In the case of the Meeting of the Group of Women Parliamentarians, delegates discussed how to best ensure

compliance with the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development (Cairo, 1994), keeping in mind 20-year review processes being undertaken by stakeholders across the globe.

Discussions covered challenges and opportunities, policy lessons learned, strategic actions for moving forward, and the political work to which delegates would commit. A representative from each working group table later presented in plenary the conclusions of their discussion group for incorporation in the final outcome document.

The presentations and other resources are available under this plenary’s event page on the ParlAmericas website.
