PLENARY ASSEMBLY
Theme: Mainstreaming Sustainability
Dates: September 25-27, 2014
Location: Santiago, Chile
Delegates: 58 national legislators representing 23 countries
Delegations of parliamentarians representing member legislatures meet annually at the Plenary Assembly, where they discuss issues of current interest in the hemisphere such as social and economic development, parliamentary transparency, food security, and gender equality in politics. We encourage a diverse representation of participants at the Plenary Assembly, with delegates representing different political parties and from both chambers (in the case of bicameral legislatures), as well as female and male delegates with varying years of experience as parliamentarians. Based on their discussions facilitated by subject matter experts, the delegates issue recommendations for their parliaments and other national or hemispheric bodies. The Plenary Assembly is also the highest decision-making body of ParlAmericas. It elects the Board of Directors, representing all sub-regions of the Americas.
