1st INTER-AMERICAN MEETING OF PRESIDENTS OF THE LEGISLATIVE BRANCH
This event, hosted by the Congress of Peru with the support of the OAS, was a first of its kind and gathered speakers/presidents of legislative chambers from OAS member states, in addition to parliamentary forums and integration assemblies. President of ParlAmericas Randy Hoback attended the meeting. Second Vice-President of ParlAmericas Jennifer Simons was also in attendance, as were other speakers who have participated in ParlAmericas events over the last year.
Topics covered during the meeting included parliamentary transparency and the role of parliament in sustainable development, two of the themes discussed at our Plenary Assembly two months later. The Agreements reached in Lima formed the basis of the plenary’s working groups, with the purpose of continuing and expanding on these essential debates with more legislators.
