They are designed and examined by the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA). Students’ best four results in these courses in Year 12 are used by the Tertiary Institutions Service Centre (TISC) to calculate their Australian Tertiary Admissions Ranking (ATAR) which is used solely for University entrance. • General Courses General courses are also designed and assessed by SCSA and will involve assessments called ESTs (Externally Set Tasks) that are moderated externally in Year 12. We offer a number of General courses (listed in green to the right). These are designed for students who are aiming to enter further training after Year 12, to go into the workforce directly after school, or to enter University via a non-ATAR pathway. • Foundation Courses We also offer Foundation courses in English and Mathematics.
