What am i Entitled to?

Housing benefit helps those on a low income to pay some or all of their rent.

Am I eligible?

You can apply for housing benefit if:

you pay rent

you’re on a low income or claiming benefits

your savings are below a certain level - usually £16,000

You can apply if you’re employed or unemployed, but if you live with a partner, only one of you can get Housing Benefit.

If you’re single and under 35, you can only get Housing Benefit for bed-sit accommodation or a single room in shared accommodation.

How do I apply?

If you are claiming JSA, ESA or Income Support then you should ask your jobcentre worker to send the claim when you claim for your other benefits.

If you are not claiming any other benefits then download this form www.gov.uk/government/publications/housing-benefit-claim-form and send to your local council.
