In November 2014, Dr. Jay Brinker, a clinical
psychologist at Swinburne University, gave a
one hour lecture in aid of National Psychology
week about her work in Humour Studies,
which, amongst other fields of study, takes
a look at the ways in which humans use
humour in a social setting. The field is more
than 30 years old and has a well represented
contingent of academics paying close
attention to what kinds of humour exist, in
what context they are used and how it affects
the people around them.
Dr. Brinker has, for the past few years, looked
into the five specific styles of humour that
people use. In this talk, Dr. Brinker goes into
the specifics of what they are.
