Fringe Festivals Melbourne. The most liveable city in the world. Melbourne is home to so many creative people from all walks of life in so many fields. The people of Melbourne thrive on expressing themselves. The laneways of Melbourne are jam packed with family and friends having a delightful meal next to street art, lamp posts besides the water, cyclists weaving in and out of the pedestrians. The buzz is evident. The Melbourne Fringe Festival began in 1987 and runs for four weeks throughout April. Attracting comedians from all over the world and some very impressive Australian talent. The Australians have a certain way to tell a story. Dave Hughes, Wil Anderson and Tim Minchin are just a few names that spring to mind. Hughesy is a country boy. His roots have never left him. It is a typical Australian yarn that keeps the fans coming back. Just like Hughesy, Carl Barron has a way with words. Aussies can relate with Carl and his suburban life and laid back humour. Tim Minchin has to be knighted very soon. Sir Tim Minchin has a certain ring to it. This man has a way with words only a thesaurus in a blender can match. Throw in a grand piano, some crazy strawberries and take your shoes off and I am certain that when you dish it up, a little Tim Minchin will be poured out. Take your canvas bags to the supermarket. Could he have envisaged a room full of guests singing that back to him? Everywhere he goes? Canvas bags are now a requirement in every house throughout Melbourne. So we are led to believe. If you ever feel like you are smallest doll in a Babushka doll, have a listen to ‘Not Perfect’ by Tim Minchin. Enjoy the performance.
