community between the acts and the operators and the crowds tend to be those looking
for something a little bit different.
This year, the Cat hosted a number of exciting acts, including ‘Kraken’, which was nominated for both The Golden Gibbo and The
Barry awards, and Edge!, which won best
comedy at last year’s fringe festival, as well
as a number of other incredible shows.
YAWP had a chat with comedians Pat
Burtscher from ‘Overwhelmed’, Al Newstead
and Anna O’Bryan from ‘Al and Anna’s Music Rant’, Josh Ladgrove from ‘Come Heckle
Christ’ and ‘Dr Professor Neal Portenza: Performs his Own Autopsy on Stage’, Jen Brister
from ‘Wishful thinking’, Trygve Wakenshaw
from ‘Kraken’, Cathy Culliver, who produced
‘Sinful Stories’ and Josh Porter, who tended
the bar. Everyone agrees: the Cat is a special community and a hub for creativity.
