“Live from New York, it's Saturday Night.” A one-liner like no other. It prepares you for the
unknown. It is where a blank canvas quickly becomes covered with swirling
curves from all angles, using multiple paintbrushes with every possible
colour available and jumps off the workbench instantly becoming an original work of art. A limited edition. Every time you hear that line, a new painting is being unearthed. This one line has the potential to catapult everyone
involved into a cultural phenomenon and on to many more enriching opportunities. From October the 11th, 1975, the road to becoming a modern
day comedian became substantially more attainable than ever. New York
City's “Rockefeller Centre” was the location and the American television
channel, NBC, was the fortunate station. This iconic sketch show has led
from the front in typical New York style. With ?air, creativity and always
looking to go beyond the boundaries.
Approximately 1300 kilometres west is another major player in the comedy
game. The city of Chicago lays claim to the incredible comedy theater
group, “The Second City”. A group that in December 1959, threw open the
doors to what was a very cold and snowy night. The windy city's comedy
group was ground breaking; they stepped away from the norm and developed new methods and jokes that were also culturally relevant and spoke
