There was a strong demand for a one-design class and on 6 March 1913 there was n move from a number of members for the adoption or what they called the Hobart one-design c13M . Andrew Wilson . who was general manager of the Au . malian Gas
Light Company in Sydney , purchased such a vessel . A later class . the Derwent class ( one-design , about 22 ft L . WL ). was established in 1927 on ! he Derwent . These yachts were very popular . costing approxi · maJCly £ 200 complete . In March 1914 cl1e club decided to provide three races per year for seven years for the Hoban one-desig11 class . The 1914 upening rendevous was held , in cun · junction with the Sydney Amateur Sailing Club , ac Steel Point .
