A New Century Begins
1900-21
The club moves into the twentieth century , receives a Royal Charter and survives World War I .

The tum of the century brought a new era of enthusiasm 10 the Prince Alfred Yacht Club . For the past 33 years the club had jogged along with not much more than mlld interest from the majority ofits members . except pemaps at its inception , and a few years afu : rwards . During the 1880s and 1890s the nwnber of members , between 70 and 80 , remained stanc and the club snll had oo permanent clubrooms .
The rooms at Campagnoni ' s in Piu Street bad been closed because they were so seldom used . The club used to hold its Annual General Meeting at the Hotel Australia and the monthly meetings of members were cancelled due to the poor attendances . The Comminee ran the club and arranged its activities .
