Vacant possession of39 Rowe Street was agreed 10 as a1 30 June 1973 but still no suirable ahernative city club premises had been found nor had the amalgamation of the Sydney Club and the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club been signed , sealed and delivered .
The Honorary Treasurer , Mr R . P . Truman , was doing a sterling job and whilst lhe club finally honoured him with a life membership for ! his and

The implemeni . ation of these proposals would involve the winding up of the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club--Pi1twarer Division ; lhe Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club lmnsferring its registration to lhe Pi11wa1er , and amendment 10 the Sydney Club Ar · ricles 10 include the Roynl Prince Alfred Yacht Club .
By early 1972 the agreement with lhc Sydney Club was still outs1nnding . Quite some time was spent in lhe search for al1cma1ive city premises with lhe Rocks area lhe most favoured . The Committee ' s bard work was finally rewarded on 31 May 1972 when agreement concerning 1he merging of lhc Sydney Club and the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club was finally reached .

The agreement provided for space in lhe Sydney Club for lhc exclusive use of Royal Prince Al . fml Yacht Club members . This space was 10 be fur · Dished , cupeted and panitioncd by lhe Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club . And so emerged lhe Galatea Room . The agrecmcn1 also provided for the admission of various classificationsof RoyalPrince Alfred Yacht Club members into a special classification of membership of the Sydney Club . The Royal Prince Alfred Yach1 Club provided a special classification for U1ose members of the Sydney Club who wished 1ojoin the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club for S-OCial reasons only .
