In 1966 , as today , the Royal Prince Alfred Yach ! Club was on very friendly terms with the Bayview Yacht Racing Association . On 19December1966 it was resolved 10 purchase a suitable ship ' s bell for presentation co lhe Bayview Yacht Racing Association as a token of the friendship of tlie two clubs on the Pittwater . Pitt \\ 1 ater . ln the early days races had started and finished right off the clubhouse but they had been gradually moving further and further north on the Pittwater until they were starting in the Pirtwater with marks laid outside in Broken Bay . TI1ere had always been lhe problem of on the wind or off the wind starts and finishes . Fleets becan1e bigger and bigger and today racing is virmally all outside with 011 die wind stllrtS and finishes . There is . however , still the option of racing smaner classes . and outside ones also . if really heavy weather demanded , inside the Piuwater .
