An imponant decision was taken in 194s-the resignation of lbe club from the Sydney Yacht Racing Association . It was then decided that all club races would be sailed under the Yacht Racing ~ ciation Rules ( this is the English body , now lbe Royal Yachting rusociation ). Jn December 1949 it

10 conduct yacht racing and to arrange more publicity for yacht racing '. ln 1948 the club ordered four new Colleens . These boats were popular harbour racing yachts , easy to handle . rast and weatherly . These vessels were similar to the Hoban or Derwent class . The original Colleen was designed by A . C . The Montagu Island Race was the highlight of the 194 ยต 9 season with eighteen staners . Along with the historic Basin Cup , there was some really exciting racing in terrible weather conditions .
