always be fun for me. If I stopped today, I would probably still see myself picking up a pen and pad or in today’s technology world, my Iphone or Ipad and start writing, so it starts from the love. The successful part is just maintaining who Sonja Blade is and has always been. I’m not trying to be something I’m not. if I force a record that’s not me, my audience and fan base will know and they will tweet me about it, and I do listen to my supporters and try my best to give them 100% of Sonja Blade. I’m never out of touch with my core audience and at the same time my team and I keep a firm ear to the streets to get a pulse on the ever changing world of this music business. Sound changes every day, but Sonja Blade will always listen to her core audience and invite the new audiences into my world.
There has always been this element to female rap that there can only be one star @ a time, that's been kind of the prelude to many of the beefs, what's your opinion on that and do u wish there was more unity in female category?
(SB) I totally understand it. It’s a male dominated industry. When there was Queen Latifah, Mc Lyte and the other entire female artist that came before us, they weren’t co-signed by a male artist.

Today’s industry has changed. You can only have one female per clique, so she becomes the first lady of this camp. The music business today feels that to successfully market and promotes a female artist; you need that strong male presence in front of her. I truly believe it has become a disadvantage to the female art form because you sometimes get what a male artist wants you to say or do and that’s why you have females only talking about one thing. I’m blessed to be able to write on the level of my counter parts, that most times I get questioned about my pen game but I truly take it as a compliment. The beefs are a part of the lack of spots in the female game. If everybody is vying for one position, then you’ll have the competition and beefs that happen because you want that spot and position. I wish there could be more unity among us but it’s hard when the female game is so scarce and you have to live and feed your family, you don’t know if the person you get close to will try to stab you in the back just to take your position. I truly believe if we can have as many female artists as male artists then unity could be achievable but until then, it’s a sad case of every woman for themselves.
Many people wouldn't believe such gritty rhymes from a gorgeous face as yours have u ever felt pressured to look or sound a certain way?
