ENGLISH VERSION OPES IN SWEDEN: LET’S KICK-OFF THE CHAMP PROJECT! The kick-off meeting of the European project CHAMP took place at the headquarters of the Swedish Sports Confederation in Stockholm on 6 and 7 March 2019. As a project partner, OPES participated to the meeting with two delegates from the International Relations, International Cooperation and Project Designing Department who will follow the implementation of the project until its conclusion in June 2021. 20 CHAMP (Clubs for Health-enhancement, Activation, Modernization and Participation) is a project coordinated by ENGSO together with eight partners from 8 countries (Italy, Denmark, Portugal, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Sweden and Germany) with the aim to provide the sport movement with innovative tools to promote physical activity. The project is a response to the challenges of the current context, within which we are assisting to a change in the field of sport and in the activities it is offering. Despite the presence of new actors, such as private fitness centers and online tools, statistics show how the population in Europe turns out not to be active enough and that the benefits of physical activity as a tool for health protection are underestimated. The world of sport has therefore a clear task: to find new ways to attract people and promote physical activity among them. In this regard, new technologies are promising and, if properly used, they can give new opportunities to the sports movement, favoring an increased participation. By adopting this purpose, partners have created CHAMP to offer sports clubs and sports organizations innovative tools and training opportunities that make it possible to modernize their modus operandi and to offer new solutions aimed at promoting physical activity. For this reason, the project aims to: • collect information with respect to good practices from the sports and not only; • encourage the training of sports staff; • introduce innovations into the sporting world that will also attract new members. An intense phase began with the meeting of March, which will see all the partners engaged in research and the collection of good practices in Europe. Stay tuned to follow the next steps!
