A t just 23-years-old, Sofia Reyes is a powerhouse. The singer-songwriter recently won a Latin American Music Award for Favorite Video for her smash hit “R.I.P.” and has garnered an impressive amount of nominations from the Latin Grammys, MTV Europe Music Awards, Kids Choice Awards Mexico, MTV Miaw Awards and Univison’s Premios Juventud, amongst many others, graced numerous stages and headlined top-notch music festivals such as Los 40 Principales Awards in Spain, Coca Cola Music Experience, SoFar Sounds, Bohemian Rhapsody in Mexico City and Lollapalooza in Argentina. Recently chosen by Billboard for their Next Up New Artists program and making their 20 Hot Latin Acts in Their 20s list, the young star’s chart-topping hit singles “Muévelo,” “Sólo Yo,” “1,2,3” featuring Jason Derulo and De La Ghetto, and “R.I.P.” feat. Anitta and Rita Ora landed her gold and platinum certifications across the globe while amassing close to a billion views on YouTube. Sofia was born in Monterrey, Mexico. At the tender age of 16 she moved to Los Angeles by way of her independent label, Bakab, to launch her solo career after parting ways with the girl band she came up with. Sofia first showed up on the scene by uploading original music as well as cover songs on YouTube which quickly gained traction and caught the attention of Warner Music Latina. It was through WEA’s partnership with D’Leon Records (Prince Royce’s label) and Sofia’s indie label, that she would later become a renowned Pop star. Sofia’s first single, “Muévelo” featuring iconic reggaetón artist Wisin charted on Billboard’s Top 20 Latin Pop Songs, where it lived for 5 months. The song also entered Spotify’s Global 200 Chart, along with artists such as Ed Sheeran and Meghan Trainor, making Sofia the only Mexican to make the list. In 2016, Sofia recorded the track “Sólo Yo” with Prince Royce which led her to become the first female singer after Jennifer Lopez in the 5 years prior to reach #1 on Billboard’s Latin Pop chart. She also received platinum and gold certifications in Spain, Argentina and Mexico due to the high number of sales. Her debut album “Louder!” which was released in 2017, reached #1 in [physical] sales in the United States making Sofia a recognized and respected artist in both the general market and Latin spaces. In 2018, her song “1,2,3” featuring Jason Derulo became a global certified platinum hit in half a dozen countries, including the U.S. and its infectious rhythm and catchy lyrics made companies such as Jeep, Target (U.S.) and Easy Jet (UK) use it in their advertising campaigns. Currently, Sofia is the face for Spectrum Mobile (US) and Fructis Garnier (Mexico & LATAM) and has also been part of major campaigns for Nike (US). The rising global Pop start has also positioned herself as a fashion icon. This past Paris Fashion Week she was the only Latina Celebrity invited to Louis Vuitton’s runway. Sofia has captured attention from fashion critics at red carpets such as E! Online, Billboard, Perez Hilton and US Weekly, who have crowned her Best Dressed at various events. She also made People en Español’s 50 Most Beautiful People and Maxim Magazine’s Hot 100 list, along with Taylor Swift, Jennifer Lawrence and Selena Gomez. 2019 has been monumental in regards to collaborations for Sofia. Her last single, “R.I.P.” featured powerful Pop Stars Anitta and Rita Ora which quickly became a fan favorite with its no BS message, explosive beat, and spicy melodies. She also collaborated with Slushii on the song “Never Let You Go”, a bilingual dancehall bop coupled with a vibrant and feel good video. Other noteworthy collaborations during this year include Cheat Codes (“Highway”), as well as Abraham Mateo (“Que Ha Pasado”), James Arthur (“Treehouse”) and Italian artist Fred De Palma for his single “Il Tuo Profumo.” Sofia’s latest bilingual single, “A Tu Manera [Corbata]” featuring rising Trap star and renowned songwriter Jhay Cortez amassed over 6 million views the week of its release.
