Landscape watering accounts for approximately 50% of water used for residential purposes. Since water is a precious and limited resource, it is important to be vigilant in conservation year round. As the temperatures reduce, our need for this resource is reduced as well since less is required outdoors. This time of year is also a good time to check a few things that will help keep your system running properly, keep your landscape looking its best, and maximize water savings. We also have a tip that can reduce a possible liability risk.

The following guidelines are supplied by the City of Phoenix and the "Water Use It Wisely" campaign. Other factors may reduce the amount of water needed. For example, when higher than normal amounts of rain occur, the days between watering via the irrigation system would increase. A soil probe (thin metal rod or long screwdriver) is very useful in checking depth of soil moisture.
