Conceptual Massing
Click again on the Level 1
Work Plane. Under your
Create tab you will find a
number of drawing tools.
These range from Model
Lines, Reference Lines, and
the draw shape tools etc.
We will mostly be using the
Model lines and the Draw
shape tools.
Select the line draw tool and
draw a straight line as shown
in the figure. This line is drawn
on Level 1. Level 1 is also its
Work Plane
Escape out of the drawing
command and click on the line
that you have just drawn. With
the line still selected go to the
Create form tool in the Ribbon
and click on the drop down.
We can now either create a
Solid or a Void from this line.
Select ‘Solid’. Since Revit only
had a single line to create a
form from it created a surface.
Using the Tab button and
holding your cursor over the
top edge of the surface. Tab
until the edge highlights,
select it. You will now see a
Blue, Red & Green 3D push
pull control. Click and drag on
one the arrow to alter the
shape of the surface. You can
also place your cursor over a
corner and using Tab select
the corner node. Again the
Blue, Red & Green 3D push
pull control will activate. You
can manipulate the corner of
the surface as well. The Blue,
Red & Green 3D push pull
control changes colour to Blue
and 2 Yellow arrows. The new
arrows are more in-line with
