Modelling – Floors, Columns and Beams
the pick line tool, tab select
the entire border of that
face. Thereafter all that
needs to be done is to
sketch the direction line in
the appropriate location.
This procedure will need to
be repeated for every face
of the underside of the roof
WARNING: the use of beam
systems in this fashion
may be necessary, but
should generally be
avoided in favour of
repeating detail
components in sections.
The reason for this is that a
standard I-Beam at a fine
level of detail comprises
22 faces times x amount of
beams per face, times x
faces, can quickly equate
to a lot of geometry, versus
a lighter repeating detail
component. If this is
required, the suggestion is
that a simpler beam
(modified dimensional
timber) comprising 6 faces
will be more economical in
the model.
Once the beam systems
are in place, and the
beams of each face match
at exactly end-to-end, the
beams can be trimmed
together.
