A beam end can also be
shaped by cutting it with a
reference plane. With the
plane in place, select
Modify, Cut geometry,
select the beam and the
reference plane. (See right)
Tip: use the reference
plane you attached the top
of your column to (as
described earlier in this
document) to cut your
beam to clean up your
portal frame
You may require a more
elaborate profiling of the
end of your beam. This is
achievable by using the
Opening by Face Tool on
the Opening Panel. Then
simply select the vertical
face of your beam, enter
sketch mode, sketch your
requirement and finish to
achieve what is displayed
on the right.
Tip: for multiple beams
with the same ending, set
the first beam up as
required, profile it, and
array in a plan view.
If multiple beams of a
similar nature need to be
added along a specific
plane, and you will make
use of a beam system. This
can be done either
automatically (the beam
system will be created
between existing beams) or
by sketching. This will allow
