Modelling – Floors, Columns and Beams
If the floor opening is required
support to multiple levels of
floors, one can make use of the
Shaft Opening Tool. (A case of
using one element versus many
being more economical in the
model). These all quite handy
for lift shafts.
You simply sketch the required
shape in plan on the required
level, and finish sketch.
Note: a shaft opening will ONLY
cut through intervening roofs,
floors and ceilings, and not
beams.
The shaft opening has both top
and base constraints (from
which level to which level) and
offsets, as well as phasing
information.
